About Us

Ken and Linda Fedraw are the managers at the Grand Victorian Manor in Boonville Missouri. As a potential guest of ours, allow us to introduce ourselves: We are well into thirteen years as owners and operators of B&B properties. Eleven years of which were spent successfully operating the award-winning Grand Victorian Bed & Breakfast in Bellaire Michigan. Ironically, we are now managing another “Grand B&B”, the Grand Victorian Manor in Boonville Missouri!

Ken grew up in Farmington, Michigan and Linda grew up in Mauston, Wisconsin (aka “cheesehead”). Married in 1969, we moved to Colorado where Ken began a very rewarding 34-year career with Hewlett-Packard Company, holding various engineering and management positions with the company. His various roles within HP gave us frequent opportunity to travel worldwide and learn, develop, and employ the very best business practices from various global leading companies HP partnered with. During this time, Linda performed as administrator to school principals within local school districts. As such, she developed a passion for helping resolve tension related to student/teacher and teacher/parent issues. Not trivial! To our advantage, the 9-month school year allowed us time to travel together on some of Ken’s many business trips. Anyway, we were not ones to sit still as evidenced by the fact we moved fifteen times in 50 years – including a wonderful two-year stint in Singapore!

So, after all this… Why own and operate a B&B? In years prior when celebrating a special occasion, we found our best ‘R&R’ (Romance and Recuperation) getaways to be when we stayed at a B&B. At times, we would even discuss how great it would be to actually own one. Things quickly fell into place after the year 2000 when HP decided to downsize and within a few months, we found ourselves exploring available B&B’s in and around Michigan. Why not? After all, we had already read a couple of books on “How to Own and Operate a B&B”. HOW HARD COULD IT BE?

And why Michigan? Turns out Northern Michigan is where Ken’s family spent many endearing summers when he was growing up. As a kid, going “Up North” with unlimited swimming, fishing, boating, and just lazing around was a dream come true! Once we saw the Grand Victorian B&B in Bellaire, the decision was made. We purchased the Inn and followed up with 11 years successfully operating the B&B.

Then after 8 years of ‘retirement’ in Las Vegas, we missed it. So, we have now made our way back to the mid-West and are now in Boonville Missouri operating another ‘Grand Victorian’, applying our previously gained experience to provide guests with the best possible B&B stay.
